Acquisition of Wichi grammar. This project investigates the grammaticalization process that infants undertake from the first pre-grammatical vocalizations to the first simple but completely grammatical productions, taking into account both child’s productions and the characteristics of the motherese or linguistic input.
Early Socialization, Mind Mindedness, and intentional attributions. The tendency of caregivers to adopt an intentional allows us to access the interpretation of infants’ internal states. We examine these social skills in caregivers and infants from Wichi and majority culture groups with the idea of describing and characterizing them.
Causal cognition. This project aims to research how Wichi people represent and reason about the causality of their ecosystem. To do this, we analyze framework theories that structure Wichi causal representations and the incidence of cultural-specific content – native categories – in their reasoning processes.
